Book Review: The Pumpkin Spice Cafe

•

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! I mentioned in my last post that I wanted to start doing book reviews again. So, today I’m going to review “The Pumpkin Spice Cafe” by Laurie Gilmore. I loved this book so much!! I was a little hesitant and went into it with low expectations, because I’m not a huge fan of romances that are hyped on BookTok. But this book is literally everything I love in a romance. For those that don’t know, I’m a huge diehard hallmark movie fan. I’m also a cozy mystery fan. This book was like a combination of the two, including Gilmore Girls. I loved the setting so much! I want to live in Dream Harbor. I love reading about small towns, and this town was so cozy. Just like with the cozy mysteries I read, I was jealous of the main character Jeanie, because I want her life so bad! She inherits/takes over her aunt’s cafe. So, she moves to the fictional town of Dream Harbor to take over the cafe, and of course, she meets a guy. If you’re wondering if this book is a romance or a cozy mystery, it’s both! It mostly focuses on the romance, but there is a small mystery side-plot. The setting of the town is just so cozy. It was so much like Gilmore Girls, especially the town meetings. There were so many times reading this book where I wanted a pumpkin-spiced latte because the characters were drinking it in the book. I loved the supporting characters, and can’t wait to read their own books. As for the romance, I loved it!! I loved Jeanie and Logan so much! I’m a huge fan of the grumpy-sunshine trope, and the author did it so well! It literally felt like I was reading a fanfic of Lorelai and Luke from Gilmore Girls. I fell in love with Logan’s character. He is so sweet, and is such a cinnamon roll. I also love that he’s a shy guy, and he was always there for Jeanie. They definitely had an instant connection. If you’re wondering about the spice, well, it’s definitely spicy! There are multiple intimate scenes, but all of them are at the end of the book, which I liked, because I’m not a fan of spice in the first half of a romance book. I like when the romance is developed first. So, I really appreciated that the author did that. I forgot to mention that the book is set in October. It’s the perfect book to read in the fall. There is also a fall festival in the book. It’s literally just like a fall hallmark movie, so if you’re also a fan, you’ll definitely love this book. I just loved this book so much! I definitely want to reread this book every fall now. If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend it!

That was my review! Thank you so much for reading! I hope you liked my review. If you’ve read this book, or the other books in the series, leave me a comment below. Let’s chat about it! Stay tuned for a new post coming next week. Have a great weekend, and happy reading!!
